The Company House came to life on January 27, 2009 for opening night of the 4th annual In the Dead of Winter Music Festival. The bar was built, painted, grouted, caulked, and polished by members of the local artistic community - all of whom now are regular patrons and performers at the CoHo. The Company House is first and foremost a live music venue. We’re a listening room primarily presenting singer songwriters. We present any genre of music except punk, hard core, and indie rock (with the rare exception). There are several bars in the Halifax area who present these types of music that a simple google search will reveal. The Company House is also an active part of the north end community. We present fundraisers, hold meetings and awareness raising concerts, and are open to almost any type of function - just ask and we’ll do what we can.
